The President’s Message

Dear ISE Members

I am very happy that we will be able to support ten ISE student members by giving free registration at the ISE conference in Chile in September. You will find more information on this below and on the homepage of ISE http://www.ethnopharmacology.org/.

I also want to remind you of the upcoming call for nominees for the Nina Etkin Award. Applicants need to be students and members of the ISE. The deadline for applications is 1 May 2014.

In October 2013, the ISE co-badged a one-day symposium on ‘Can Medicine be Your Food?’, which took place at Kew Gardens in London, UK. If you as an ISE-member have suggestions for other symposia or sessions at conferences that you think the ISE could co-badge, please forward your suggestions to me, and the ISE Board will discuss them.

We are thinking about future conferences, and the ISE Board has discussed possible locations. In May 2015 we will go to Petra in Jordan. China and South Africa have been put forward as possibilities for the 2016-7 conferences. These, and other suggestions, will be discussed at the Members Meeting in 2014, which takes place during the conference in Chile.

I wish all ISE Members a scientifically successful and personally happy 2014!

Anna K Jäger

ISE President
